The Ghana Insurance College (GIC) has awarded various certificates to six employees of UT Life Insurance at its 8th graduation ceremony in Accra.
James Ahiable, General Manager, Finance and Administration, and Nana Yaa Odame, Head of Corporate Business, were among the graduates who were awarded with certificates in Advanced Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies.
Rudolph Svanikier, Head of Claims, and Muniratu Abdul-Rahman of the Underwriting Unit both graduated with Diploma certificates in Applied Insurance Studies; while Benjamin Addai, Retail Sales Manager and Nancy Pomary, a Sales Executive, graduated in the Certificates category.
Commissioner of Insurance Miss. Lydia Lariba Bawa, speaking at the ceremony, underscored the need for adequate training of professionals in the country’s insurance industry -- stating that "the profession is currently in a state of evolution".
Professor Stephen Adei, a former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and who was the Guest Speaker at the ceremony, admonished the graduates to uphold integrity and honesty in the practice of the insurance profession: stating that “Attitude is everything, and with the right attitude you will go places”.
The Ghana Insurance College was established to develop the requisite human resource that is needed to sustain and build capacity for the country’s insurance industry.?
