Accra Ghana, 9th November 2014. Mr. Sheriff Abudu, the General Manager responsible for Business Development at UT Life Insurance Company, has called on corporate bodies to partner government in protecting lives in the communities they work in.

This, he noted, will go a long way to reduce the number of preventable deaths that occur daily; especially in rural communities. Speaking at the presentation of life jackets to the Kwahu Afram Plains North and South District Assemblies in Donkokrom, Mr. Sherriff Abudu bemoaned the rampant situation where innocent lives are lost on the Volta lake as a result of the unavailability of life jackets.

“We've been told about incidents of boats capsizing  and innocent people losing their lives while traveling in and around the districts. As corporate citizens of these districts, we must together with all other corporate institutions, take up the challenge of preventing these deaths. We cannot fold our arms and look up to the central government alone in this quest." he said.

Mr. Abudu also stated that it has been the practice of UT Life Insurance Company to support in providing for the needs of the communities it operates in, hence the move by the Company to provide life jackets to the people of Kwahu Afram Plains.Receiving the life jackets on behalf of the two districts, Mr. Samuel Badu-Baiden, the coordinating Director of the Kwahu Afram Plains North District indicated that UT Life Insurance Company is the first corporate entity to donate to the two districts. He entreated other corporate entities in the district to emulate the example of UT Life Insurance and support the assemblies.

He was certain that such gestures would go a long way to better the lives of the people in the districts and boost the economy. The ceremony was chaired by Nana Akuamoah Boateng Tano II, chief of Atakora and Donkorkrom. Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included Rev. Jonathan Obour-Wiredu, the District Forestry Manager; Mr. Peter Sae Afari, Assistant Director Kwaku Afram Plain North;  Hawulatu Huseini Ibrahim, UT Life Insurance Sales Manager for Donkorkrom ; Philip Bonney, Head Strategy Coordination & Implementation, UT Life Insurance and Maxwell Ampon Dawson, Corporate Affairs & Marketing Coordinator, UT Life Insurance  Company.

Also present at the ceremony were the district security heads  including the Police , Fire, C.E.P.S and BNI commanders.
